The library of Guangzhou City University of Technology (GCUT) hosted a thematic lecture about Cognitive Leverage in the Age of AI in the Room 204 of the Teaching Building A5 on the evening of December 4, which was organized by GCUT’s Reader Association. Xie Zhiwang, an AI expert, who is the author of How to be an AI Expert in a Short Time: DeepSeek Helps to Make a Cushy Job, was invited to deliver the lecture. Centering around three core modules including AI tools, how to write AI prompts and how to use AI tools, Xie Zhiwang provided solutions to the application of intelligent tools with forward thinking and practicality for over 200 readers.

The lecture expounded the current development and application scenarios of mainstream AI tools. Xie introduced core functions and scenarios of top AI tools from home and abroad comprehensively from Large Language Model, Image-generated Model to Video-generated Model. When illustrating outstanding domestic models such as DeepSeek, Qwen and Kimi, he stressed that the unique advantages of China’s AI tools in handling Chinese, providing professional guidance to the choice of different tools.

As the core function of AI applications, prompts serve as a key content of the lecture. Xie introduced practical skills of role play, framework of WWHAI universal prompts and prompts of RTGO structure with details while he also demonstrated how to stimulate the greatest potentials of AI through designing accurate orders with cases. He pointed out that the competence of writing prompts would become everyone’s necessary and universal skills, which determined the efficiency and effects of the coordination between users and AI.

Xie also showed how AI can be used efficiently under various scenarios, including information acquisition, content creation and data analysis. He emphasized that making good use of AI could help to enlarge one’s personal competence, which is of strategic importance nowadays.

The lecture serves as a significant measure of GCUT’s library to carry out AI literacy education. In terms of AI technologies changing the ways to learning and scientific research, the library acts consistent with the trend of technological development. It helps GCUTers to master the application of intelligent tools through holding series of lecture about advanced technologies, thus improving their digital life and innovation competitiveness. The library will keep focusing on the application of advanced technologies to organize various activities on AI literacy education, so as to provide great support for GCUTers to adapt to the digital age and improve their core competitiveness.
