Team “Anxin” (meaning reassurance and warmth in Chinese) from the International Business School of Guangzhou City University of Technology (GCUT) held two lectures themed on “caring for senior citizens through guaranteeing safety of their livestreaming shopping” in Huagang Community and Qishan Village in cooperation with “Double-Hundred Project” Service Station for Social Work of Xiuquan Street, Huadu District, Guangzhou City. Rooted in villages, communities and nursing homes, Team “Anxin” has held four series of lectures so far. Team members popularized the risks and preventive measures of livestreaming shopping through case analysis, practical tips of keeping online fraud at bay and question & answer part, which is illustrated in a clear way. These students dispelled senior citizens’ misgivings about online shopping with a sense of social responsibility and enthusiasm, expounding key issues such as how to identify deceptive advertisement, avoid online fraud and protect personal information. They also emphasized that senior citizens should seek timely help when they get into such trouble. In this way, these senior citizens could establish correct consumption concepts and enhance their ability in self-protection. The local residents appreciated and thought highly of such activity. Participants argued that they formed a clearer understanding of livestreaming shopping while learning how to protect their legitimate rights.

I taught them to catch up with the times through face-to-face communication and ‘hands-on’ teaching, which helps to advance the healthy development of livestreaming industry in an indirect way. Therefore, I feel that every good deed can gather as a great power to better our society”. Zhang Meng said that “I learn effective approaches to information transmission through the series of lectures, in which I improve my ability of planning, communication, research and team cooperation”.
