Present Su Cheng and Vice President Wang Zhichen of Guangzhou City University of Technology (GCUT) led a delegation to visit the Management Committee of the national-level Guangzhou Huadu Economic and Technological Development Zone for exchanges. Standing Deputy Director Xu Qingping of the Management Committee of the national-level Guangzhou Huadu Economic and Technological Development Zone and related enterprise representatives received them.

Focusing on talent demand of forward deployed engineers (FDE) and the building of an international commercial and an international hub port of the Management Committee of the national-level Guangzhou Huadu Economic and Technological Development Zone, President Su introduced GCUT’s development of integration between industry and education and the proposal of carrying out cooperation between GCUT and the local district. He put forward that the deep integration between industry and education serves as one of the three paths of GCUT’s “15th Five-Year Plan”, therefore, GCUT has built its comprehensive fostering system that combines professional schools and industrial colleges. He concentrated on illustrating the development of GCUT’s three industrial colleges, namely, Institute of Green and Intelligent Transportation Industry, Industrial College of International Digital Business and Innovation, and Industrial College of Artificial Intelligence while recommending JOINCO (a Portugese enterprise that GCUT has established cooperative relationship with) to them. He hoped that GCUT could match the requirements of the goal of building an international commercial and an international hub port of the Management Committee of the national-level Guangzhou Huadu Economic and Technological Development Zone based on its industrial colleges and fostering AI talents that fit talent demand of FDE in Huadu District. He expected that the Management Committee of the national-level Guangzhou Huadu Economic and Technological Development Zone could draw on its advantages such as allocation of industrial resources and its platform to recommend related quality enterprises that are consistent with the development of the industrial chain to GCUT while providing opportunities for GCUT to get in touch with real-world industrial scenarios and demands of application of Huadu District, thus furthering the cooperation between the university and enterprises as well as the integration between industry and education. Centering around deepening the cooperation on scientific research between GCUT and enterprises, Vice President Wang Zhichen proposed that GCUT could explore to build joint laboratories with quality enterprises in Huadu District and advance cooperation on scientific research to promote talent fostering, and coordinated advancement of technological research and development as well as application of achievements, which could further enhance GCUT’s capacity in serving the regional development.

Xu Qingping exchanged views with GCUT’s delegation based on deepening integration between industry and education, matching of industrial resources, and talent fostering concentrating on the industrial development layout, requirements regarding building an international commercial and an international hub port, and talent demand of FDE of the Management Committee of the national-level Guangzhou Huadu Economic and Technological Development Zone during the discussion meeting. He hoped that GCUT could play an active part in “AI+” Initiative of Huadu District to jointly build a cradle of PDE talents of Huadu District even in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area centering around integrated application of AI and industrial scenarios. As for serving the building of an international commercial and an international hub port, it is expected that GCUT could deeply integrate in the building of international business port. For one thing, it can foster innovative business entrepreneurial talents in terms of new business models such as digital trade and cross-border e-commerce. For another, it can foster strategic talents with international vision and competence of resource integrating concerning the transformation and upgrading of local enterprises. Meanwhile, it is expected that GCUT could promote cooperation and fostering coordinating with universities and platforms from home and abroad while smoothing the channels between talent fostering and industrial demands through rotation training.

They visited related digital platforms and systems of Shanghe Interconnected Science and Technology (Guangdong) Co., Ltd after the discussion meeting, learning how digital technologies are applied in industrial scenarios.

The delegation of the Management Committee of the national-level Guangzhou Huadu Economic and Technological Development Zone visited GCUT on September 10, with its focus on exchanging opinions concerning talent demand of FDE and the building of an international business port and international hub port. GCUT visited it this time serves as a respond to its previous visit, and a specific approach to deepening cooperation with the local district as well as promoting deep integration between industry and education, which provides a great opportunity for their future cooperation. GCUT will keep enhancing regular communication with the local district dependent on its industrial colleges in the future, thus making more contributions to the fostering of FDE talents and the building of an international business port and international hub port of Huadu District.
